The Artists’ Book

Oil on Linen 137cm x 96.5cm
This painting epitomises my love of fantasy and magic. Adriano’s whimsical Wonka-esque qualities were inspiring, and creating this trompe l’oeil was a roller-coaster of fun, frivolity and a touch of silliness! The Artists’ Book – Celebrating 10 Years of PAA

Written by Rosa on January 30th, 2012An icon of inner west Sydney, Edward was a cheeky and playful yet somewhat intriguing subject. From the moment he sat down, the conversation flowed comfortably. Edward has a way of making those around him totally at ease, and of course, that made it so much easier for me to capture him. Inspired by his wonderful waxed and curled moustachios I have painted him in the traditional manner of the Dutch masters, a style I adore. Thanks Ed!

The PAA’s next sumptuous show opens at the Victorian Art Society, Hammond and McCubbin Galleries, 430 Albert Street, East Melbourne next week. Opening night Wednesday 9th November 2011. Guest speaker – Jean Kittson.
Two of my works will be on display “Flamenco” and “Melange” – a detail of which is above. This painting is a depiction of race, colour and an exercise in people’s perception of same. It is always interesting to see people’s reactions to this painting, puzzled looks and such varying feedback!
