About the Artist
Born in Sydney, I began training formally at the Julian Ashton Art School, The Rocks in 1996.
Receiving a Diploma in Fine Art in 2003, I have since been painting private commissions, specialising in portraiture, especially children and young people.
It is a constant challenge observing children and capturing their essence, attitude and the amazing translucence of their skin and eyes.
I prefer to paint from life, but am happy to paint from photographs as is necessary and often the case with young, energetic children. Portraits can be commissioned in pencil, charcoal, conte, pastel and of course, the most classic of all, oils.
However, occasionally I tend to veer off into the world of whimsy and paint whatever takes my fancy!
My first solo exhibition in July 2005 included a nostalgic retrospective of 1950′s, 1960′s and 1970′s Australiana and the love of the Holden car. This collection was named “The Australian Icons Suite”. These paintings were simply fun – playful and seductive. I am constantly adding to my Australian icons theme with new paintings depicting my favourite Sydney scenes.
